Release Erhan Örs

Call for the Release of Turkish Film Editor

ICFR* stands side by side with Turkey’s film community, Editors Association, and Cinema & Television Union in demanding the release of the Turkish film editor Erhan Örs who has been held in Silivri Prison since his detention on 3 June 2022.

He is accused of editing a documentary produced in 2017 by an association that carries out human rights-based activities. Editing a film has been classified as a criminal offense and a reason for detention.

This judicial procedure is a threat to the freedom of filmmakers in Turkey.

ICFR calls on the Turkish authorities to immediately and unconditionally release Erhan Örs and we encourage all film and culture institutions around the world to do the same.
